Ludhiana’s Trident Group Chairman Rajinder Gupta, unanimously elected President of Punjab Cricket Association on Sunday in his annual general meeting (AGM). He takes over charge of Punjab-cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer DP Reddy. Trident Group is a business group of $ 1 billion (Rs 600 crore), which is interested in textile and other sectors.

PCA also adopted all the recommendations of the Lodha committee, which is to implement the cooling period and subscribe to all international cricketers of the state. The newly elected secretary RP Singla said, “Age and tenure will now be the criteria for becoming the office, while government employees have not been denied the status of office bearers.”

Association release said that according to the recommendations of the PCA elections, the Lodha Committee was done after amending the memorandum and the articles of association and as accepted by the Supreme Court.

Former Ranji player Arun Sharma has been elected as the joint secretary. Sharma is the coach of the Punjab team Ajay Tyagi will be the new treasurer while Rakesh Rathore, Professor SM Verma and former PCA president IS Bindra’s son Amarinder Bindra have been appointed vice-president. Dr. AGS Bawa has been elected as Joint Secretary. About 85 members of 182 participated in the AGM.

Ajay Ratra appointed coach of Punjab

Former India team wicket-keeper Ajay Ratra has been appointed as coach of Punjab Ranji team this season. “That criterion fits and it has been done in consultation with both Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh, they will end on September 26.” PCA Secretary RP Singla said.
